Rage 2 is Not Coming to Steam

Most of us has played the 2010 hit Rage. The post-apocalyptic game that looked like a mix between Mad Max and Borderlands. Personally I was a big fan, and I found the game to be a really fun, open-world shmup. Since its end I’ve been looking forward to the sequel, and now it’s here! But it may no be coming to Steam. Yay.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Becomes Free to Play, Includes Battle Royale Mode

Counter-Strike is one of the most popular FPS games of the last two decade, with a legacy going back to the original Half-Life when the first version of Counter-Strike was a mod for the game until Valve purchased the rights and started releasing stand-alone versions such as Counter-Strike 1.6, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, and the latest addition (which is already six years old), Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Over the years the game has remained largely the same, although CS:GO adding the likes of Arms Race mode to the mix. Given its age, it is no longer the money pit that it once was, with most revenue generated by the sale of in-game items including skins. In an attempt to gain even more players, Valve has now made CS:GO free to play.

Epic Launches Their Own Games Store Launches, Offers Developers 88% of Revenue

The segregation of gaming platforms in about to get even larger, with Epic launching the Epic Games Store where developers are offered 88% of revenue, an increase from Steam offering 70%. While the jump might not seem too large, Steam takes the remaining 30% while Epic Games Store will only take 12% for unlimited download capacity, rolling out of patches and DRM.

Far Cry New Dawn Takes Place in a Post-Apocalyptic Setting, Direct Sequel to Far Cry 5, Releases 15 February

Ubisoft has announced the latest addition to the Far Cry family titled New Dawn which takes place in the same location as Far Cry 5 – Hope County, New Montana. The difference here is that New Dawn is set 17 years in the future in a post-apocalyptic setting following a global nuclear catastrophe.

Just Cause 4 Cracked After One Day

Denuvo has been taking a beating lately, with Hitman 2 being cracked in next to no time. Hitman 2 used Denuvo 5.3, which now makes an appearance in Just Cause 4 – which has just been cracked in a single day.

Battlefield V RTX/DXR Performance Patch Offers Performance Gains of up to 50%

NVIDIA and DICE received a lot of negativity recently for the poor performance in Battlefield V with DirectX Raytracing (DXR) enabled, with performance dropping to nearly half that of the frame rates achieved with DXR disabled. Even on the mighty GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, the game was only playable at 1080p unless DXR was disabled altogether.

Battlefield V will receive its first free update, titled Chapter 1: Overture, in the very near future. Originally scheduled for release on 4 December, there has been an unexpected delay due to technical issues.

PlayStation 5 Likely to be Powered by AMD Ryzen Based APUs

Sony recently took the world by surprise when they announced that the PlayStation team would be skipping E3 2019, but there is a bit more news than that. Reddit user RuthenicCookie has stated that the upcoming PlayStation 5 (or whatever it ends up being called) will continue to use AMD for its processing power.

Steam Link is No Longer Available

The Steam Link is a box that allows games on your Steam account to be streamed directly to a TV. The grunt of the work would be done by your computer, with the Steam Link supplying the display to the TV over a local network. The advantage to this over running an HDMI cable is that game controllers and peripherals communicate with the box, as opposed to having to try to get them to work with a computer that’s potentially in a different room.

We’re all familiar with E3, right? The Electronic Entertainment Expo. The massive expo that runs every year for a few days to show of all the new games, consoles, tech and other, well, electronic entertainment goodies. Most of us keep track of it to see major advances or new releases, and one major brand we keep our eyes on is Sony’s PlayStation. So it comes as a real disappointment that they’ll not be attending E3 2019.

The Monkey Island series of games by LucasArts are probably the most successful point-and-click adventure games of all time, right up there with Dungeon Keeper and Grim Fandango.

The brilliant news is that you can grab a bundle of the first four games right now on Steam for a heavily discounted price of R 106.72. You don’t need to buy the entire bundle to save, as the individual games are also heavily discounted. Buying the bundle is, however, cheaper than buying the games individually.

EA Confirms Remastered Version of Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert
