ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces Strix XG49VQ

PRESS RELEASE

ASUSRepublic of Gamers (ROG) today announced Strix XG49VQ, a super-ultra-wide 49-inch gaming monitor with a rock-steady 144Hz refresh rate and 1800R curvature for the ultimate immersive gaming experience. The new display also features Radeon FreeSync 2 HDR, High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology with DCI-P3 90% professional colour gamut coverage and DisplayHDR 400 certification to deliver smooth, low-latency visuals with outstanding brightness and contrast, and eye-popping colour reproduction.

Wraparound immersion made for fast gaming experiences

ROG Strix XG49VQ’s stunning 49-inch display is engineered with an 1800R curvature to provide convincing immersion for heightened gaming experiences and supreme flexibility for multitasking. With a 32:9 aspect ratio and 3840 x 1080 resolution, the super-ultra-wide display provides the same effective viewing area as two side-by-side 27-inch monitors without a gap and bezel getting in the way of the view.

ROG Strix XG49VQ also offers an ultrafast up to 144Hz refresh rate, ensuring that even the fastest-paced games played at the highest visual settings are buttery smooth and completely free from lag.

ROG Strix XG49VQ’s 3840×1080 resolution provides ample clarity while being easier to drive than a 4K setup. Jarring transitions during frame-rate changes are kept at bay thanks to adaptive-sync technology, which adjusts the display’s refresh rate to the rendering rate of the graphics card — keeping on-screen action smooth at all times. This ensures that owners of mid-range gaming systems are able to experience the splendor of ROG Strix XG49VQ without resorting to noisy and expensive multi-GPU solution.

HDR gaming that delivers on its promise

Many new games now support HDR technology. However, not all HDR displays are created equal, meaning gamers’ real-world experiences all too often fail to live up to the manufacturers’ hype.

That’s not a problem for ROG Strix XG49VQ, as it benefits from backlight technology custom-created and configured by ROG engineers: this incorporates additional LEDs and a proprietary light-guide film to increase luminosity by over 10% ensures for a typical brightness of 450 cd/m2.

To deliver the best HDR experience, ROG tests every monitor before it ships to ensure it passes DisplayHDR 400 certification — with ROG Strix XG49VQ delivering 10-bit colour depth. Also, when paired with the latest AMD Radeon VII graphics card, ROG Strix XG49VQ supports FreeSync 2 HDR technology to deliver buttery smooth visuals with low latency and better brightness and contrast. FreeSync 2 HDR stipulates low-latency processing for both standard and HDR content, eliminating the input lag typically associated with HDR content. This simultaneous support of both adaptive sync and HDR technology provides truly exceptional gaming experiences.

ROG Strix XG49VQ also offers ASUS Smart HDR technology, a selection of preset modes automatically configure the display for the best possible HDR output for a variety of common usage scenarios — including instant customisations for cinema, gaming and FreeSync 2 HDR.

ASUS-exclusive extras for outstanding gaming experiences, every day

In addition to being a superb gaming monitor ROG Strix XG49VQ comes with a load of ASUS-exclusive extras to deliver outstanding experiences every day.

These include ASUS Shadow Boost technology to clarify dark areas of the game world without overexposing brighter areas, improving overall viewing while also making it easier to spot enemies hidden in dark areas of the map.

ROG Strix XG49VQ also has ASUS GamePlus hotkey technology for quick access to in-game enhancements that enable the player to get more out of their games. A crosshair-overlay option offers four different crosshair types, while an onscreen timer option keeps track of how much time has been spent in the game word. There’s even a frames-per-second (FPS) counter that lets the player see just how smoothly the game is running.

DisplayWidget is another exclusive extra awaiting ROG Strix XG49VQ gamers. This intuitive software utility makes it easy to tweak settings or configure settings across multiple software add-ons, such as ASUS Shadow Boost, ASUS GameVisual, ASUS App Sync, and the ASUS Ultra-Low Blue Light Filter.

Adjustments to these utilities can be made via a simply on-screen display (OSD) menu or using ROG Strix XG49VQ’s physical navigational joystick.

Ready for work, rest or play

ROG Strix XG49VQ is equipped with a variety of picture-handling and comfort-enhancing technologies to aid productivity or play.

With its super-ultra-wide screen, multiple inputs and picture-by-picture support, ROG Strix XG49VQ can display up to three content sources at the same time. This enables flexible gaming experiences, giving players the freedom to game, chat and watch streams all at the same time.

ROG Strix XG49VQ also has picture-by-picture technology, easily controlled by hotkeys. This lets users quickly arrange different video sources side by side, and manually adjusts the layout for the best onscreen fit.

Next up is the TÜV Rheinland-certified ASUS Ultra-low Blue Light filter, which is employed by ROG Strix XG49VQ to help protect eyes and prevent strain from blue-light emissions that are considered by some to be harmful. The user is able to select from four different filter settings via the OSD menu or by using the five-way joystick. ROG Strix XG49VQ also reduces on-screen flicker to minimise eye strain for long-term comfort.

ROG Strix XG49VQ also comes with an ergonomic stand that offers extensive swivel, tilt and height adjustments to ensure an ideal viewing position.
